Prevent Your Car From Being Stolen

Having your car broken into or stolen can be a great disruption to someone's life resulting in the victim having to file police reports, replace broken windows, file insurance claims and possibly even having to purchase a new one. We will cover a few tips to help prevent getting your car broken into and your belongings stolen. These methods are not fail proof by any means, but a car is an expensive purchase and it's better to be safe than sorry.

Here are a few tips to avoid having your belongings stolen from your car. It is extremely simple; keep all valuables hidden. This includes purses (especially if you carry coveted bags such as Dior, Louis Vuitton or Chanel), phones, wallets, sports equipment, even shopping bags! You may be carrying food or junk in your shopping bag but a thief won't be aware of that. As far as the thief is concerned, you could be carrying something valuable; something worth stealing. When you are on the rush, it's real easy to forget your cell phone or electronic gadget inside your vehicle while you go inside the store for five minutes. It doesn't matter if you rush in for just a few minutes; that's more than enough time for a seasoned criminal to break inside.

It is a prudent idea to always keep your doors locked. It is suggested that you park in bright and well-lit area, preferably public areas with people around. Keep the doors locked even when you are driving because it's always possible for someone could jump in at a red light and attempt a carjacking. Don't ever hide a set of spare keys in or under your car. Professional thieves will be able to find these rather quickly. If possible, park in a garage instead of along the street.

Some vehicles are more attractive for thieves to steal than others. Cadillac's Escalade ranks at number one when it comes to the model that is most likely to be stolen and its easy to see why; the Escalade can be frequently seen in MTV videos and mentioned in popular top 40 songs. Thieves are generally drawn to exciting cars such as flashy SUV's with nice rims or upscale autos such as Mercedes or Audi. Most thieves aren't going to be too excited to steal a Corolla or a Kia. However, it's not just luxury cars that are targeted. A lot of old Accord's and Civics are also targeted because they are easy to break into (because they are older) and because their parts are worth quite a bit of money.

Some thieves steal cars by actually towing them away. You can avoid this by using the emergency brake when you park and turning your wheels to the side which will make it extremely difficult for your car to be towed away.

It's probably not a good idea to keep your insurance and registration papers in the glove compartment unless it gets stolen. If you use a navigation system, it is suggested that you don't enter in your real address as a starting point but instead use that of a business near your location.

Aston Martin Increases Social Presence With Online Video Campaign

Aston Martin is the latest luxury car manufacturers to produce an online video campaign; Aston's foray into film making promotes their new Rapide, an exclusive four door sports car.

The series of short films follow a group of 'time transporters' as they embark on an adventure to bring 'time' to a mystery figure. According to the luxury marque the films are 'based on one of life's quandaries: the more success you had, the less time you had to share it with the people who mattered.'

The first instalment called 'True Power' is available to watch online, the following parts will be available to watch on the 19th and 26th January.

Film Director, Donnie Masters from Serious Pictures said; "We wanted to deliver a subtle but clever piece of branded entertainment; something that mirrors the thrill of the drive. It's an action-packed Aston Martin story in three parts, designed to entertain the audience. We're not hard selling, we're showcasing - after all, it is the thinking man's performance car."

The videos are part of a social media campaign that Aston Martin and Ad agency R/GA London have created to expand the brand's social media presence and reach out to a wider global customer base. Exclusive content will be released on Facebook and Twitter, and a number of contests can be found on the Aston Martin website. Exclusive names such as Bang and Olufsen and Jaeger LeCoultre have joined up with Aston Martin for the campaign.

However the poorly executed, badly acted videos have come under criticism for devaluing the luxury brand, with comparisons to the very successful short films created by BMW in 2001/02 not going unnoticed.

BMW's 'Hire' series, created by critically acclaimed Hollywood directors, such as Guy Richie, and starring award winning actor Clive Owen, received more than 100 million views. Audi also produced a series of 6 short films to promote the Audi A1, the series called "The Next Big Thing" starred Justin Timberlake, the brands ambassador.

The iPod Music System Now in Your Car

In today's generation, an iPod is a thing of necessity and everyday use. The iPod is considered to be a boon nowadays for the music lovers who can now carry loads of music in their pockets. Not just this, the iPod has now become your mobile entertainment centre, where you can watch videos and listen to your favourite songs or even the radio, while you are on the go or are getting bored. This advantage has now been provided in your car music system also, as iPod Car Kits and Accessories are gaining popularity in everyone's car.

There are several advantages of installing iPod car accessories for your car music system.

1. You will not need to carry loads of CDs and DVDs along with you everywhere you go in order to play them in your car stereo system. Some people also have their car cabinets stuffed with CDs and records that they usually listen to while driving. An iPod lets you carry hundreds of songs in your pocket, without having to bear the weight of all those records wherever you go. Just plug in your iPod in the dock of your car music system and you can enjoy your music wherever you go.

2. Apart from this the CDs and DVDs take much time to read while you have to wait to listen to your tracks. While using an iPod the music is accessed instantly without any delay.

3. Another great disadvantage of discs is that they are vulnerable to scratches and cracks during use. After getting damaged they often do not read properly in the music players and you are not able to listen to your tracks. This is not the case in iPod kits. The tracks in your iPod are safe without any damage and can be heard anytime you want.

All these advantages have made the iPod car kits very popular among most of the car users. All you need to do with these kits is put in your iPod in the dock of your car, where it sits tight and then you can access all the tracks that are stored in your iPod. The sound quality of these players is far better than ordinary CD/DVD players.

The Three Best Movie Stunts Involving Vehicles

Stunts play a big role in movies, and an entire industry now revolves around it. Car stunts are even more impressive and movie directors are always trying to come up with even more impressive stunts to make a lasting impression on viewers. In fact, stunts now play such an important role there are now awards dedicated to these and a career as a stuntman looks great on a resume. Many actors originally started as stuntmen before actually moving on to real roles. This is a list of the three best movie stunts that involve vehicles.

Bad Boys 2

Michael Bay is usually pretty demanding when it comes to stunts and Bad Boys 2 delivers with a car chase scene that easily showcases the director's knack for great car stunts. In this scene, the characters of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are in pursuit of a truck that is carrying a load of cars. Not the low end cars, but brands like Lamborghini and Porsche. At one point, these cars are literally thrown from the truck onto the road in an attempt to get rid of the two protagonists. The most impressive thing about this stunt is that these cars are real, thereby giving the scene a unique feel that would not have been achieved with special effects.

The Dark Knight

In this scene, Batman, portrayed by Christian Bale, uses cable from his custom motorcycle to overturn a truck driven by Heath Ledger's memorable Joker. The truck does a flip and lands on its top, leaving barely enough space for The Joker to crawl out and confront Batman. This scene is possibly one of the most impressive stunts pulled due to the mechanics involved. Amazingly enough, very little special effects were actually used in this scene. The crew actually flipped a truck upside down in New York and even cleaned everything up before morning so as not to block the traffic.

Matrix Reloaded

The Matrix reloaded is probably one of the movies with the best stunts ever. It is also known as having an epic car chase scene, which is made even more formidable that they had to build a freeway for it. In this scene, the agents take over some cops to begin the pursuit of the truck. This is just an excuse to unleash what is by far the best stunt in perhaps the whole Matrix trilogy. Picture this, while one agent is driving the car at full speed, the second one gets out of the car and jumps onto another oncoming car before trying to reach the truck. And that's not more. When the agent jumps onto the first car, he actually completely shatters it and appears totally unfazed while doing so. Obviously, this one did involve CGI, but it is extremely original and the speed with which everything is done makes it even more special.

Researching and Buying New Or Used Cars Online at Great 'No Reserve' Prices

The days of spending hour after hour for days walking through car lots are all but gone. The modern car purchaser has many tools at his disposal. The chief tool is the internet.

People can now watch videos to see reviews of cars from real owners and in some cases, they can see videos of the cars they are considering purchasing.

The most popular use of the internet, however, is looking for cars for sale online. There are millions of searches monthly for cars for sale and specifically for no reserve cars.

A no reserve auction means that the lowest current bid for the item wins. There is no reserve price that a bidder must bid above.

People are looking for car auctions with no reserve pricing for two reasons. First, they are trying to get the best deal possible. If nobody else enters a bid, and the auction was listed for a very low initial bid, they can get great deals for potentially thousands below the value of a car.

The other reason people look at no reserve car auctions is to establish a comparison price with other cars. They know that they shouldn't just assume that a car has a great price because it is in a no reserve auction, but they can compare it to other cars for the best deal possible.

It would be easy to assume that only private sellers are selling their cars online, but dealers are selling new and used cars online. Some of these dealers go the extra mile for the internet sale.

For the modern car buyer, looking for best pricing on autos or looking for antique, classic, or exotic cars that are difficult to find locally, online auctions are a powerful tool.

Car Dealer Marketing Tips - Top 10

Use social media to create a buzz

When you have a new model in stock you could create a buzz by running a competition on Twitter or Facebook to let people win the car for a day.

Use the power of YouTube

Uploading a video for your car dealership to YouTube is a good way to increase awareness of your business and drive more traffic to your website. Coming up with an innovative video is the key to success, for example you may want to do a spoof video of a stereotypical car sales person.

Put your thinking cap on

Whether it's for online or offline marketing, it pays to put your thinking cap on and come up with something a bit different to attract customers. For example why not hold a themed day to coincide with the launch of a new car from a particular country?

Use email marketing to promote special offers

Offline promotions such as running competitions in shopping malls are a great way to gather data for email or SMS marketing campaigns (provided you get the person's permission of course).

Email marketing is low cost, professional and fast which make it ideal for promoting special offers you may be running on a bank holiday weekend for example.

Personalise your approach to selling cars

People often have a stereotypical view of car dealers. One way to banish this is to put short staff videos on your website and let potential customers meet your sales team before they even come to the showroom.

Keep people on your website by making it interactive

Having a driving game or interactive options to watch videos or choose different colours of vehicles will help to keep people on your website for longer.

Get a test drive booking facility online

If people are on your website and want to book a test drive, you should make it as easy as possible for them. Having a quick online form to complete will be more convenient for a lot of people rather than calling up to talk to someone. You can of course have an option for them to specify a convenient time to call them back.

Offer exclusive online discounts

One way to keep people coming back to your website is to become known for running a strong promotion such as an 'offer of the week'. Making a discount exclusively available online will also enable you to track response rates to your promotion.
